I caution you on filing your amended return too soon. If you do not know that your original return has been processed, do not amend (or at least) do not send in your amendment.
This happened to a client of mine before and the amended return ended up being processed before the original and created all kinds of problems, and it took several months to get it all straightened out.
Where you file depends on where you live, but you will find it listed in the instructions to form 1040-X and 1040-NR as follows:
