My federal has been pending for 11 days. Why?

Except for a few returns that the IRS is pulling early for testing purposes, the IRS won't officially open up for processing of returns until January 28.

So the vast majority of folks who efiled early have to wait until January 28 or soon thereafter to hear if their efiled returns were accepted or rejected.

While it's still possible yours could be pulled early by the IRS, there's no way to predict.
