my fed return is accepted but my state shows pending why?

Sometimes it take a day or two longer for a state to respond......especially with the mass of deadline filings. Could even take a week....depending on how robust your state's computer systems are set up to be.

Normally the federal return needs to get accepted before the state will accept the return. It does not happen immediately. That is why the state return shows pending longer.
