My divorce finally ended and I can file for my 2019 taxes. Can/How do I do this on Turbotax? I had everything entered just needed to submit.

My divorce finally ended and I can file for my 2019 taxes. Can/How do I do this on Turbotax? I had everything entered just needed to submit.

If you started with the online version then see the FAQ below.

TurboTax online and e-file for 2019 ended on Oct 15, 2020. 2019 (and earlier tax years) can now only be completed using the CD/download software installed on a Mac or Windows computer. The return must be printed, signed and mailed.

2017-2019 software can be purchased here:

See this TurboTax help article:

"How do I finish a prior-year return that I started in TurboTax Online?

If you started your 2017, 2018 or 2019 return in TurboTax Online but weren't able to file it before the shutdown, you can finish and paper-file it in the TurboTax download software for PC or Mac.

Start by purchasing and downloading the software and install it on your computer. If you're also filing a state, be sure to download and install the corresponding state program (PC instructions | Mac instructions).

1. Now sign in at TurboTax.com using the same login you used to prepare your prior-year return.
If you don't remember it, try account recovery. Still no luck? Then just start over in the TurboTax software you downloaded and skip the rest of these instructions.

2. Under Your tax returns & documents, select Download .tax file (not the PDF) for the prior year you want and save it to your computer.

3. Back in the CD/download software, select Find a Tax File, and then browse to the tax data file you downloaded in the previous step.

4. Select the file and click Open.

5 . You can now finish up in the software. Your return will need to be paper-filed, as e-filing prior years is no longer available."

Hold it---what do you mean by "my divorce finally ended?"  If you were still legally married in 2019 your filing choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately.  You cannot file as Single until the tax year that you actually became Single.    Or if you were apart for at least the last six months of 2019 and were the custodial parent of the children you might be able to file as Head of Household.  Be careful about the filing status you are using on your 2019 return.  If your divorce did not become final until 2020, your 2019 tax return status cannot be Single.

Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2019 returns is now permanently closed.  You had until midnight on Thursday, October 15, 2020 to finish and attempt to e-file; if your e-file was rejected you had until October 31, 2020 to make corrections and re-file. Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2019 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.

They are available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Friday.

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.
