My daughter is trying to file and cannot. I did claim her on mine but she's 18 so I did not get credit. How do I get her claim to go through?

Since your daughter's SSN is on your return as a dependent, she will not be able to e-file her return.  She will have to print and mail it in.

There is a new credit this tax year (and through 2025).  The new credit allows taxpayers a credit for certain dependents that don't qualify for the Child Tax Credit, such as qualifying children age 17 or older, adult dependents, and dependents who have an ITIN.

The credit is $500 per qualifying dependent as long as the adjusted gross income (AGI) doesn’t exceed $200,000
