Did you mail in the amended return for a refund ? If so they will process the return however if you filed late then the refund will not be released ... it is considered forfeited after 3 years.
for any tax year before 2019, any refund is forfeit because the amended return was not filed within 3 years of the due date of the original return including extensions.
@khyrac93 - what tax year is the amendment for?
the deadline to claim a refund is 3 years from the original filing date (assuming you didn't file for an extension):
2018 - deadline was April 15, 2022
2019 - deadline is July 15, 2023
2020 - deadline is May 17, 2024
2021 - deadline is April 17, 2025
if you filed the amendment past these deadlines, there is nothing you can do; that is the law. it's just a lesson learned 🙂

If you did not file for an extension then the Social Security number of the child had to be issued on or before April 17, 2022. Since the amended return was filed after the due date, the IRS disallowed the amended return for the dependent child.
Yes ... due to the new laws put in place a couple of years ago you CANNOT amend a return to add a dependent whose SS# was issued after the original filing. Sadly the TT program doesn't tell you this so you think you can and then the IRS says it is denied and sends a notice telling you so eventually. What you can do is amend to take the OTHER dependent credit of up to $500 but you cannot get any other credits for this dependent.
@khyrac93 and if you decide to go the 'other dependent', route the benefit is the lower of $500 or whatever is on Line 18 of Form 1040
