I used turbotax to e-file my 2019 return and it was accepted by the IRS. I realized after the fact that I needed to add my IRA withdrawal that wasn't taxed as per my 1099-R. I am not given an option to amend my 2019 return and am curious as to why. Do I need to just wait? What's the deal?

You need to wait until the IRS processes your tax return before you can prepare an amended return. This is in case the tax return is changed for some reason you won't amend using the wrong numbers.
If you have a refund, you should wait until you receive it. If you owed money, wait a few weeks or until your payment is processed.
You should see an option to amend your return in TurboTax on your home page within the next couple of weeks.
