Mandatory e-file and underpayment penalties - want to pay earlier

We have been required to file IRS taxes electronically, which we do every year.  This year, we have underpayment penalties and do not want to wait until IRS debits the taxes owed on 4/145/26.  Penalties accrue daily, so we want to pay ourselves, online, by 2/28/26.  Can I pay via our online IRS account now and hope that IRS doesn't double debit our checking account on 4/15/26 for same amount?

"Penalties accrue daily, "

Penalties don't grow until you are late, i.e. after April 15th.

IRS should direct debit "amount you owe" on the date you specify on your e-File.

Unfortunately TurboTax is known to calculate penalty incorrectly.

You might want to select   " Have IRS calculate any penalty."

You will be billed later.

If you pay on the IRS website you won't be charged twice.

You can't be charged twice if you don't supply bank info on Form 1040.

Thank you for your response.  I didn't know TT is known for calculating penalties incorrectly, but double checked with another method and the TT amount is correct.  After going through all the way to the end.....e-filing with payment for State, I discovered I can choose when taxes are to be withdrawn from checking.
