You will have to use desktop software to amend a past year return.
Use a mailing service like certified mail to track so you will know it was received since you will have a long wait.
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, you must wait for the IRS process and accept your return.
If the online version does not work, switch to Desktop. Open the link below to see how to do it:
How do I switch from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop?
Keep in mind you should only amend after your original return has been completed and any refund or payment has been processed.
I believe that I confused the system as I tried to amend previous year's tax returns that were filed with TurboTax Online using the desktop version. Now there seems to be no way to get back to amending online.
This brings up a follow up question which is:
When amending a return using TurboTax Desktop software, I am seeing that the Amend License includes one state's software. These returns were filed for two states. Is there a way to carry over the second state license from TurboTax Online?
Thanks!
TurboTax Desktop for Windows will transfer last year's tax data file (.tax2024 file) or PDF from the 2024 version of TurboTax Desktop or Online. Transferring your TurboTax Online return to the Desktop software allows you to amend your federal return and as many state returns as necessary for that year. The desktop version enables handling multiple state amendments.
Amended returns, particularly state amendments for prior years, typically must be printed and mailed.
Please clarify what you saw in the "amend license" regarding filing just one state. You should be able to file as many states as needed, though there may be an additional fee.
