Your employer's state tax ID number is in box 15 of your W-2. You cannot file your tax return until you get your W-2.

Don't try to file using your last pay stub. The information may not match your W-2.

You can use your Federal ID # instead of a State ID #.  However, as rjs stated above, do NOT use your pay stub to prepare your taxes.  its best to wait until you receive your W-2 or you risk using incorrect information that will require you to amend your return to correct (causing you weeks or months in delay).
