J1 visa stimulus check

I was on the wrok and travel program from dec 18' to march 19'. Got my w2, I filed it myself using turbotax (PLACED MYSELF AS NON RESIDENT) I checked my account balance ang got my federal taxes (named tax ref by the bank) plus the 1200 (NAMED TAX REF TOO). As I don't live in the US I thought both were legit tax returns and moved the money abroad without knowing. Now, as I know it is a stimulus check just for americans I would like to know if I've just made a federal crime without knowing and return the money I know I do not deserve.

Also, the mail I got for my work and travel sponsor was sent yesterday and the deposit was made the 15th.

J1 visa stimulus check

I'm in the exact same boat - J-1 visa during 2018-2019, filed as non-resident - haven't touched the money yet.

Shouldn't the required tax amend to return the stimulus money be covered by the "TURBOTAX GUARANTEE" put everywhere on the website?

J1 visa stimulus check

Not sure how the IRS will handle this.

I would follow this FAQ site to see if they update it with an answer.
