Its been 21 days wheres my refund
Only the IRS can answer why your refund did not get deposited to your account. If it was expected yesterday, one reason you did not get your federal refund may be because yesterday was a holiday so banks weren't open. Another reason is because you have a refund offset.
If you are getting the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), that will delay your direct deposit or paper check. See the IRS article: Refund Timing for Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child
Please note that IRS representatives can only research the status of your refund 21 days after you filed electronically. If it's been 21 days, you may call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.
- It takes additional time for refunds to be processed after leaving the IRS, and for financial institutions to accept and deposit them to bank accounts and products like debit cards.
- Also many financial institutions do not process payments on weekends or holidays, which can affect when refunds reach taxpayers.
- For EITC and ACTC filers, the three-day holiday weekend involving President’s Day affects their refund timing.
