The IRS does not use the word "accepted".    If you are seeing on the IRS refund site that your return is being processed, then you are okay----that means they have it and are working on it.

FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:

https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

How it works

Where's My Refund shows your refund status:

  • Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
  • Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
  • Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

When TurboTax website shows "accepted", that only refers to the efile status.  It means the IRS accepted your return to begin processing it.   That status will not change in TurboTax.   It does not refer to the status of your return's processing at the IRS.  Go by the IRS website.

The IRS does not use the term "accepted" on it's website tool.  It has 3 stages:

Return received and is processing

Refund approved

Refund sent and expected date provided
