If you are referring to the due date of April 17, 2023 for the 2022 federal tax return and your tax return was filed with a tax refund, there is no penalty for filing after the due date.

@5d3d635e7e30 even if you were unable to efile by the deadline, it was still the taxpayer's responsibility to either a) mail the money owned or b) make the payment at the IRS website.
there is no penalty for filing late if you are due a refund!
but if you owe, the IRS expects the money to be paid on time, even if the tax return itself is not available.
why would you want a refund? you got the tax return, right? that is what you are paying for. TT does not charge for efiling your federal return in any event - that is free.

Your TurboTax fees are the same when you use online TurboTax whether you e-file the return or send it in by mail. The fee is for using the software---there was no extra fee for e-filing. You had several ways to pay your tax due by the deadline, including paying on the IRS website or by mailing a check or money order by the filing deadline.
TurboTax does not promise that you will be able to e-file successfully. Some e-files are rejected for a variety of reasons; when an e-file cannot be sent in, you have the option to mail the return instead. TurboTax does not refund your fee because you had an e-filing problem.
