Your 2021 refund was reduced by the IRS because the IRS says you made a mistake on the tax return?  They say that you did not enter the advance child tax credit payments you received when you prepared the return?   Was the IRS correct?   Did you receive monthly child tax credit payments during the months of July through December of 2021, but forget to enter those payments when you prepared your 2021 return?    A lot of people made that mistake, and their refunds were reduced.   Are you saying the IRS is wrong and that you did not receive those monthly payments?

sorry- not very articulate.   to clarify:  I did receive those credit payments, and the IRS did amend my return and sent me a notice of the new reduced refund amount.  But That was it- the letter.  In June of 2023, and as of today Still not the refund.

Thanks!

There isn't anything TurboTax or anyone else in Community can do to help you get your refund.

You should contact the IRS.

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

Before you call, make sure you know or have the following information handy:

  • Social Security cards and birth dates for those who were on the return you are calling about
  • An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) letter if you don’t have a Social Security number (SSN)
  • Filing status – Single, Head of Household, Married Filing Joint or Married Filing Separate
  • Your prior year tax return. They may need to verify your identity before answering certain questions
  • A copy of the tax return you’re calling about (2021)
  • Any letters or notices we sent you
