Is there a way to amend my tax return for reasons not related to unemployment?

I filed my tax return as married filing separately, but should have filed married filing jointly. I don't need to change unemployment details, just the filing status.

Yes, you can amend to change your filing status. Your spouse will also have to agree to the change.

First, make sure you really need to amend and that your 2020 return was accepted in TurboTax Online or paper-filed through the mail. You can't amend a return that hasn't been filed yet.
