The IRS has not processed any type of paper filed tax returns for the past several months. They have only just recently started to process those tax returns on an as received basis.
Keep checking the IRS amended return status website weekly - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

We’re experiencing delays in processing paper tax returns due to limited staffing. If you already filed a paper return, we will process it in the order we received it.
Do not file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
Amended returns usually take up to 4 months to process ... add another 3 months for the Covid shutdown that means you should not expect anything until Halloween if you are lucky. Check the IRS tool once a week until you see any progress reported : https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return
@DoninGA I submitted mine electronically on April 17,2021. Would you please post once you have received yours, if you don't mind? I'd love to have any hint as to when I could expect mine.
Thank you!
You posted to a thread that is more than a year old and Don doesn't file amended returns thru TT ... he is a knowledgeable poster on this forum.
Amended returns are taking more than 6 months to process this year so all you can do is check the IRS site once a week until you see progress ... https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return
Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:
