I received a letter from the IRS stating that I incorrectly reported my 1099-G information for 2018. When I look at the dollar amount I entered within the TurboTax app and compare it to what they say the State of California says I should've reported.... they are exactly the same.
They're telling me I'll need to submit a 1040X to amend my return, but there is nothing to amend.
What can I do to confirm the the TurboTax app actually submitted the 1099-G dollar amount correctly on the forms sent in for my tax return?
Also, I should note that I paid for audit protection -- does this qualify?
