IRS corrected my return, do I need to do an amendment?

The IRS adjusted my tax return due to an estimated payment being applied to the wrong year (2025 vs 2024). The outcome after adjustment was still a return, not a payment, just smaller than expected.

Given this situation, do I need to file an amendment correcting my return?  If not, what should I retain for records of my filing for this year in case of future audit or similar (e.g., IRS account transcript, update filing in TurboTax to corred and save that but don't amend, etc.?)

No you do not need to file an amended return. The IRS has corrected your return. You need to keep your tax return documents and the IRS letter. You may want the IRS  to send you a transcript of your return (no charge) which may show the correction they made. Go to irs.com to request it.
