Instead of waiting for the 6419 letter can I just total my processed payments and enter that amount for the tax credit I received?

You want to be sure what amount the IRS thinks it sent you.  That’s why the form is so important. Are you able to view your account online to verify the amount of advanced payment the IRS has sent.? It’s a huge delay if there’s a discrepancy.
