If you have already filed the tax return there is no way to change the refund choices. Filing it is like mailing a letter in a mailbox. It's on its way and you can't get it back.
After January 29 the IRS will either accept or reject your e-file. If it's rejected you will be able to make any changes you want and resubmit it. If it's accepted you cannot change it.
Did you already e-file? If you already e-filed you cannot change how you want to receive your refund. The IRS does not allow it.
If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
