In 2016 I received a letter from EDD of benefit overpayments. I payed some of it off that year & finished paying it off in 2017. Do I get a credit for paying back amount?

Same thing happened to my wife four years ago. EDD should send you Form 1099-G. On it there are two boxes that read:

Box 3a. 2017 Benefits Repaid: $$$
Box 3b. Prior Year(s) Benefits Repaid: $$$

This should cover any repayments you made to EDD.

If repayment made in 2017, you will get one at address they have on file.
