Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments. If you did not receive any of those payments between July and December you need to answer that you did not receive any payments.
There are so many scenarios with those payments---like divorced/never married parents who have issues over who received the payments, who claimed the children, etc. --- the software has no way of knowing if any of that involves you---so you have to answer the questions about it.
Please follow these steps to indicate you did not receive any advanced payments:
If you are someone else's dependent then you are not eligible to receive a stimulus check--also called the recovery rebate credit. People who received those checks got letter 6475 showing how much they received.
If you cannot be claimed as someone else's dependent for 2021 then you can get the recovery rebate credit on your 2021 return. Were you a full-time student in 2021? Can your parents--or someone else--claim you as a dependent for 2021?
So you are filing a 2021 tax return.
If you did not receive the third stimulus, it is normal that you did not receive a letter 6475. This is an IRS letter notifying you of the amount you received for the third stimulus.
If you are not a dependent, then you will receive the third stimulus as the Recovery rebate credit.
If you are a dependent of another taxpayer (e.g. your parents), you are not eligible for the Recovery rebate credit.
