Efiling is only open until Oct 15. If you don't efile by then you will have to print and mail it. There is a few days grace if you efiled in time and need to fix a rejected return.
So if you can't efile by Oct 15 you need to download the .tax2018 file so you can finish on your computer.

Just to be clear, do we have until October 15 (aka midnight October 14) or do we have "through October 15?"
If we have through October 15, is there a particular time that day, or do we have until midnight to e-file?
You must e-file by midnight in your own time zone. Nothing like cutting it down to the last second. If the IRS rejects it, then you have until the 20th to fix it and re-file. After that, you have to use desktop software to work on it and it has to be printed, signed and mailed.
