Do you mean Massachusetts has been holding your refunds each year? Accepted just means received for processing. As they have been processing, apparently the State felt your filings needed further examination. What kind of info or documentation have they requested from you? Try calling the number on the letter you got from Mass for more details.
I see you are asking from TT self-employed. Do you have primarily cash income (not reported on a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC)? Or maybe some unusual expenses? Do you sell things online? Be sure to keep adequate records of all this, as the Federal IRS might also have questions.
can you tell us what they are asking for? perhaps we can provide guidance. let too many years pass and it could end up forfeiting any right to a refund for that year.
