We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

If the IRS says to file again, do I listen to the IRS or do I listen to TurboTax telling me not to? My return was never received by the IRS. No account of it at all.

My return was received by turbo tax 3 days ago. I reached out to the IRS because that was suggested if I hadn't been accepted within 48 hours. The IRS said it would have been accepted within 24 hours. Also, because there is no record of it on Where's my refund tool and also there is a notice in my transcript verifying that my return hasn't been filed, she said it sometimes happen that returns get lost in the system. She said to file again since it hadn't been accepted and that she had to do that herself the night before. There was a very intelligent agent that I spoke with that night who looked in my account and was very confused about everything in there. She said it was showing a balance of $0 owed and expected return of $0 owed but she could clearly see that wasn't the case. She also believed the refund tools and transcripts not working were also very off. She suggested, and noted in my account, that I should check in the morning and if no update to file again. TurboTax premium only offers 1 federal refund per account, and it did not give me an option to correct it despite several TTprofessionals claiming that I should be able to. So I signed into turbo tax using my intuit accountant account and refiled. Because I refiled there was a security notice on my account and I was informed that the return will be held for 48 hours and the 48 hours is an opportunity for me to either verify that it was or that it was not me using another account. And that if I did not verify either that it would automatically submit my return to the IRS in 48 hours. Why is TurboTax not giving me an option to verify that it is me? I'm genuinely curious as to why my "opportunity to verify that it IS or isn't me" has puzzled every single professional. I had an interview with TurboTax today actually for the professional position and I had to turn that down because it's alarming that there clearly isn't any guidance on simple solutions for their professionals. Has anyone else had these issues? If you did can you please shine some light on what I can expect because this is driving me crazy.

Before you get too carried away with all of this-----You say you just e-filed a few days ago.   It is taking longer than 48 hours for millions of people to know whether their e-file was accepted or rejected.

Millions of e-files have been backlogged on servers for weeks.  This week the IRS began to accept/reject e-files.  When yours makes it through that pipeline, you will get an email.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
