If NYC202 form is not in my filed tax return, does it mean it wasn't filed? It was there while I was working on it, but I can't find it in my filed return

there was an option to print it out and it showed me the address to send it to. I then checked if I actually need to send a paper copy of it and it looked like I don't and it should be automatically generated and filed. I now look at my return and it's not there. All my previous returns have it, but I didn't file through turbotax in previous years.

Did you use a professional tax preparer in previous years? Form NYC-202 is not part of your state income tax return. Some professional tax software allows Form NYC-202 to be e-filed, but TurboTax does not. If you used TurboTax you have to print Form NYC-202 and any required attachments, and mail it to the New York City Department of Finance.

Ah ok thanks! Yes I used a professional tax preparer, unfortunately he died this year.

How do I access this form now? Turbotax gave me an option to print it out while I was working on my taxes, but I thought I would be able to access it after I'm done and I can't find it now.

I also read one of the answers here on this board that said  that Turbotax files it automatically, I copied it below:

"No if you are filing your NY state return electronically then your NYC -202 return will also be included and you will not have to also file a paper copy of the NYC-202 by mail.

So if you entered the Unincorporated Business Conducted in New York Tax information in TurboTax, it will create the NYC-202 and file it with your New York state tax return. "

You didn't give the source of that answer, other than "on this board," but it's wrong. Here's a link to the TurboTax Online forms availability list for New York.

If you look at Form NYC-202 in that list you will see that it is available for printing, but in the E-file column it says "unsupported."

If you get a PDF of your tax return with all forms, schedules, and worksheets, the Form NYC-202 should be in there. I'm not familiar with the details of printing from TurboTax Online, but here's an FAQ on how to get a copy of a return after you have filed.

If that doesn't include the NYC-202, go into your return, go to the Print Center, and select the option to print with all forms and worksheets. (I'm not sure of the exact wording.) If you have trouble with that, someone who knows more about printing from TurboTax Online will help you.

Here are instructions from another community Champion, DoninGA, to get a PDF of your tax return with all forms and worksheets.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. 

This will take you back to the 2019 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets.
