I have a letter addressed to me and my husband that says "report this as income on your tax return'. It shows an amount of total interest paid or credited by the irs?

the letter does not state what the credit or interest paid was for. it is not on a w2, just a letter. Where do i add this as income on turbo tax?

If it is interest simply enter it as such using the "Interest on Form 1099-INT".  Don't worry about entering it "as if" you received a W-2 when you didn't.  If you look at Schedule B

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1099b.pdf

you'll see that there's nothing there that states "this income was reported on a 1099-INT" and "this income was not reported on a 1099-INT."  It just lists payee and amount.
