If irs has to correct the amount of money on return do they still do direct deposit

Yes.  Corrections does not affect your choice of refund delivery.

So if the irs said we corrected you amount you receive by the 12th and we have direct deposit.  I could just look in bank not wait for paper check

Yes.  If you have chosen to have your refund direct deposited, your refund will be direct deposited unless there is an issue with your direct deposit information.
