If I want to "unamend" a return, to find out what the original return showed, how do I do that? I didn't keep a copy of the original return.

Only way is to have a copy saved of it. You sure you didn't save it before you started amending? It would have told you to save the original .tax2018 file and work in a copy. And when you were done with the original return you should have also saved it as a pdf file.
If you can remember what you changed to put back, Then the only way would be to get a transcript or copy from the IRS.
