Removing the "exemption" would not change your taxes, but that would mean you are removing that person as a dependent, which could increase your taxes by a lot (such as the $2000 Child Tax Credit, but there are several other things that it could affect).

Because there are so many variables (we don't know your entire situation), you would need to test it out and see what happens.

However, you need to take a step back and figure out WHY are you removing the exemption/dependent.  If you qualify to claim that person, in MANY cases other people CAN'T claim that person.  So why is it that you want to remove that person?
