If i paid 25% of my income before taxes to a federal halfway house last year Can I get that amount back in my return?

You can claim a deduction for this amount as an itemized deduction if the federal halfway house is considered a tax-exempt organization as listed by the IRS.   Please see the following link to look up the name of  the charity:
