If I need to make changes to my return without amending (because of reviewing the final PDF return and noticing errors) how can I get back in when I'm locked out?

I paid and selected "Mail My Return" so that I could get to the PDF preview and review. I don't know why the system finalized the return though.

Yes.  Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.

Phew! Thank you! I clicked Add a State at the bottom of the screen, clicked edit on a state return, the clicked through a few state questions until it brought me back.
