Let me tell you something. It is very expensive to have the fees deducted from your refund. There is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California). Which you can avoid by paying with a credit card. If you don't have a credit card you get get a prepaid Visa card at Walmart to pay the fees. Then you can get refund check.
If you cannot receive a paper check because you do not have a permanent mail address, then use the address of someone you trust to receive the check and give it to you. Many people in that situation have the check sent to a parent or trusted friend.
@GeorgeDenseff If the user is choosing refund processing and wants the TT fees deducted from a federal refund, a paper check is not an option. "Refund processing" requires direct deposit to a bank account or a prepaid card.
REFUND PROCESSING
Do you mean you want to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund? If your federal refund will be enough to pay the software fees AND the extra $39.99 refund processing fee to have a third party bank process your refund then when you go through the Review section and next when you are in the FILE section you will be able to make that choice. Please make note that if your refund takes too long to arrive (IRS delays, etc.) then you will also be agreeing that the TurboTax fees can be extracted from your bank account even before your refund is issued by the IRS. This comes as an unpleasant shock to many people every year. It is better to pay for the software upfront using a credit card than to face the extra $39.99 fee and the possibility of the fees coming out of your account at a very inconvenient time.
And....you can never pay state tax due from a federal refund, so do not expect that. The state tax due has to be paid directly to your state.
The IRS FREE FILE system just opened ... if your AGI is $73K or less then you can file a fed & State return for free by choosing one of the 8 options here ... https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
