If I have invested a portion of my HSA., is the total value the invested portion and the liquid portion or only the liquid amount?

The total value is the fair market value (FMV), which is the total value of all assets in the HSA, liquid or not. This is reported to you on the form 5498-SA in box 5, or by calling your HSA administrator. It may also be available at your HSA administrator's website by creating an account and logging in.
