It is not clear what you actually did. Do you mean you entered your freelance writing income in the same part of the software where you entered a W-2 somehow? What did you do to enter it? Your freelance writing income should have been entered as self-employment income and you should have paid self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare for that income. We cannot see your return.
We cannot say what the IRS will do --- your return might go under review if you made mistakes and they might require you to provide further information about your W-2. But.....wait for the IRS. Do not start messing around with your return until the IRS either fully processes it or sends you a request for information.
Amend your return to add or change information on an already filed tax return.
If you filed incorrectly, you should amend.
If you e-Filed 1040 you can e-File 1040-X.
1040-X becomes your new tax return.
Make sure it is complete and accurate this time.
