If I had to create a new profile for this year’s taxes, can I still download my returns from prior years from my old profile?

I tried and it’s saying I have to do a 2019 return, which I already did

If you changed user names and  now have more than one account then to get PDFs of the other returns you need to log in using the other UserID ...

Try these steps to recover your User ID or password:

  1. Go to our account recovery page.
  2. Enter one of the following:
    • Phone number (recommended)
    • Email address
    • User ID
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you’re done, we’ll either send you a code to help you recover your account, or show/send you a list of accounts associated with your info.

  • If you’re still unable to recover your account, select Try something else on the Account Recovery page. We’ll ask additional questions to verify your identity.

Keep in mind: Once you’re back in your account, make sure to include or update your phone number. Doing so helps increase account security and ease account recovery.

(If you're looking to access a prior year return, go here.)

Related Information:

Transfer of the prior year info to the next tax year can only be done if you use the same UserID as the prior year ... info cannot be transferred between UserIDs for security reasons.

Now...IF you CAN log into your old account, perhaps you can't see where exactly to click to display those prior years.

From the "Tax Home" selection on the left side, look lower on the page for the "Show" downarrow.  That will then display what prior tax years for which you used that particular account.  (My own account had a 2019 Prep in progress, so I can't know what they actually show on a page for an account where 2019 was never started)

(ALSO: Don't use the "Documents" selection in the upper left corner)
