If I filed as independent in 2021, can my parents then claim me in 2022 if I don't file as an independent?

I filed independently in  2021, and was wondering if I must continue to file as independent or if I can rescind that to where my parent can claim me as a dependent on her 2022 taxes.

Each year is separate.  They can can you if you are under 19 or under 24 if you are a full time student no matter how much you made.  But if you are 19 or older and not a student  they can only claim you if you made less than $4,400 total for the year.

Here are the rules for claiming a dependent.  Do you qualify as a dependent?

You must answer "yes, I can be claimed as a dependent" if you can legally be claimed, even if you don't want to be claimed.  If you can't legally be claimed as a dependent by someone else, you answer "No, I can't be claimed as a dependent."

Each year is based on the facts and circumstances of that year only.  If the facts of your situation changed, your answer might change.
