Yes you can still receive the stimulus money if you are filing a 2020 tax return and are not someone else's dependent for 2020  -- and do not owe back child support.

 

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check this year, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021—if you are eligible.It will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

The second stimulus payment has not been added to the tax forms yet. According to the IRS, they will only be making “second stimulus payments“ until January 15. After that, you you must request it as part of your 2020 tax return.  For that reason, don’t be impatient and file early. Wait until the tax forms are fully updated to include both stimulus payments so that when you file, you get them both if you are entitled, and don’t have to later file an amended return, which will take an extra six months to process.
