Your refunds shouldn't change. Try it by clicking on the box in Personal Info that says you can be claimed by someone else and see what happens. Before you start the amended return, make sure you uncheck the box first and then start your amended return and then check the box again.

Where would the new total refund estimate show up? Also, would my refund not change even though my return was equal to my withheld tax amount?

Your refund will not change. The new refund will be the same in the refund monitors at the top of the screen as it was before you indicated someone will claim you as a dependent.
