Why intuit said that I should receive by tax refund by April 20 and as of today I have not received it. I track the status and IRS says that it is still being processed.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

On the IRS site you are also offered the use of an app called IRS2Go

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I would suggest you not than giving any estimate date, because I trust the information that Intuit provides as accurate and I could give a 10% change of error, but this has become from 21 days to almost 35 days from the date i filed.  If the IRS are the only ones in control and have the correct information, than why would Intuit give an estimate if they don't event know that!

That is a good question that you should ask TurboTax - we are just other users in this user-to-user forum.

TurboTax only gives the general IRS (most returns are processed withing 21 days) date.  The actual date is known only by the IRS.  TurboTax also does not adjust the general date for anything on the tax return.  TurboTax receives no feedback from the IRS after filing.

The IRS says most refunds will be issued within 21 days - some faster, some longer.

Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits.  There is no first-in-first-out.  Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining  tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.

Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification.  The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.
