Did you choose the option to pay any  TurboTax fees out of the Federal refund?   If so, that requires direct deposit.

We can tell you the proper way to remove that "pay out of refund" option, and how to pay upfront with credit card, debit card, or a prepaid debit card you can buy in a store.   That will also save you the 34.99 service that the "pay out of refund" method has.

When asked about which payment option I would like, the only option given to me is the "direct deposit to my bank".  It does not give me the option of having a paper check mailed to me.  How do I have the paper check mailed to me, as I do not wish to have the direct deposit option?

Did you see my comment above?   You didn't answer the question I asked in the first sentence.
Do you have any TurboTax fees?  If so, how did you pay them?   Did you choose to pay any fees out of your Federal refund?

If so, you'll have to pay a different way.  See the Answer section below on how to pay upfront so you can then choose to get your Federal refund by check.

In order to be presented an option to get your Federal refund by check in the mail,  you will have to pay any TurboTax fees upfront.   If you chose to pay any fees out of your Federal refund, it will not present you an option to get a check.

If you chose that option to pay your fees out of your Federal refund, you can remove it prior to filing and then pay the TurboTax fee upfront with credit card, debit card, or a prepaid debit card you can buy in a store.   Here's how to remove it, depending on your location:

Non-California filers:

California filers (where it is in the "Premium Services" bundle) :

Once you remove that fee payment method and have paid the fees upfront, you will then have a choice to get your Federal refund by a check in the mail.
