I work for a federal agency who inadvertently listed my duty station in Alabama. For over 5 months Alabama state taxes were being deducted. Should I get it all back?

I worked out of Texas and my duty station is in Texas.  Alabama is our headquarters but I have never been a resident of Alabama.  Once the duty station was corrected no more money for state taxes was deducted from my check.

Yes, you should get a full refund of the Alabama taxes that were deducted in error by your employer.

File an Alabama non-resident state return, indicating that you were not a resident of Alabama at any time during the year, nor did you earn any income in Alabama during the year.
