I was out of work in 2016 I had my son and Now just started working can I claim him and get money back though I did not work ?

If you didn't have any earned income in 2016, claiming your son will not get you any money back.  You have to have some ''earned income'' to qualify for any of the available refundable dependent credits.   Most likely there is someone else who should be claiming you and your child as dependents if you had no income of your own in 2016.
