If you were eligible for EIC it would have been added to line 27 of your Form 1040 automatically.   And...if you are getting EIC, the PATH act subject you to having your refund held until late February/early March.

Are you saying that the IRS already sent your 2025 refund?

If you have already received your refund and spent some of the money, you may be fine.

You would only need to return some or all of your refund if you file an amended tax return that makes a change in your overall refund amount to a lower number than what you already received.

If you were eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and it was not already included in your return for some reason, then an amended return should increase your overall refund, not decrease it.  When you file an amended return, the amount that you have already received (or paid) is taken into account.  When looking at the amended return, if your refund is larger, you will get an additional amount; if your refund is smaller, then you will need to pay some money back from the refund you already received.
