Are you referring to the W-4 that you gave to your employer?
That form is used to determine the amount of federal income taxes that are withheld from your wages. It has nothing to do with the actual number of dependents you claimed on tax return or the filing status you entered on a tax return.
What you claimed at work on the W4 won't change the total tax on your income. Only the Tax Due or Refund after the withholding is subtracted. You should give your employer a new W4 to have the right amount taken out for the future so you don't owe so much again next time.
