I want to print federal and state returns to be filed by mail. Why do I need to pay to print??? That is stupid

Why do you have to pay to print? Because you used the software to prepare your tax returns. The fee is not for e-filing. It is for using the tax software to prepare your return. The fee is the same whether you e-file the return or mail it.
