I use a payroll company to pay our nanny - we file a schedule H but the taxes are already paid. The program is trying to add it as tax owed and I need to amend.

I e-filed but did not include my Schedule H, these taxes were already paid by payroll company but when I tried to add to my turbotax it added it as tax owed. How can I amend my return to include schedule H?

You can amend your return to include Schedule H form as well at the tax payments the payroll company made on your behalf.  Schedule H calculates the Household Employment Taxes you owe, but you also need to enter the tax payments you made under "estimated taxes."

If you have filed your return and it's been accepted, you can amend your 2016 return by following these steps:

  1. Sign back in to TurboTax and go to your Tax Timeline.  [See Screenshot #1, below.]
  2. In the section Some Things You Can Do (below the grey line), click on Amend (change) return. [Screenshot #2]
  3. On the screen, Are you sure you'd like to amend, click the box Amend using TurboTax Online.
  4. On the screen, Have you already filed this return, click the Yes button and then click the button next to I need to amend my 2016 return and click Continue[Screenshot #3 ]
  5. On the screen, What do you need to change on your return, scroll down and click on the Update box next to the Deductions & Credits. [Screenshot #4]
  6. On the Deductions & Credits screen, in the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, click on the Start/Update box next to Estimates.
  7. On the next screen, click on the Start/Revisit box next to the type of tax payment (Federal, State, Local).
  8. Revise your payment(s) on the next screen, How much did you pay in federal [or state or local] estimated taxes?
