You are too late to use online TurboTax. Online for 2021 is permanently closed. You can purchase the CD/download and use it on a full PC or Mac, and then mail your tax return. It cannot be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2019 and 2020and 2021 is permanently closed.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2019, 2020 or 2021 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
And....if you already used the online program and entered your 2021 information, the return is all wrong. Do not try to file it. You need to clear out any 2021 income information you entered and save the account for your 2022 information. Since you did not file a timely 2021 return you will have trouble when you want to e-file 2022. Use zero for your AGI when it asks. If zero does not work then you will need to print, sign and mail 2022.
CLEAR AND START OVER

If you already filed your real 2022 taxes earlier...and if the real/earlier 2022 filing was "Accepted"..
....then the accidental e-filing of 2021data on the Online 2022 forms should be "Rejected", since the IRS already has an accepted 2022 filing. IF the improper 2021 filing, on the 2022 software, ends up being "Accepted", then you are mistaken in thinking your 2022 data was already filed AND accepted.
______
You can then go to the proper tax Desktop software, and prepare them in the 2021 software and mail them in.
________
IF your accidental filing of 2021 data was in the exact-same account as yoru prior 2022 filing, then your 2022 data has been permanently erased/replaced and cannot be recovered if you ever need a copy. (Unless you downloaded a PDF file of yoru 2022 forms from your online account before screwing them up with the 2021 "stuff")
I think the first 2 answers might have missed something. You entered your 2021 info into the 2022 Online version. Oh, what about your 2022 return? Have you filed 2022 yet?
Online is only for 2022 returns. If you actually submitted and filed your 2021 info online you have a big problem. It thinks it was for your 2022 return. Now you have to wait until the IRS Accepts or Rejects it. If it Rejects you can change it around to be for your real 2022 return and resend it. BUT if it is Accepted then you need to wait for the IRS to fully process your return and you get the first refund or pay the tax due. Then you can fill out an Amended Return 1040X. So if you have filed DO NOT change or enter anything else into your return until you find out if you have to amend.
If you efiled 2021 this year in the Online version it thinks it was your 2022 return. So you need to amend it and change it to be for your real 2022 return. You will have to start the Amended return with the original return that was filed. How to amend 2022

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission and the second email says if it was Accepted or Rejected.
You can check your efiling status here,

Then you still need to file a 2021 return. You can only buy the download for prior years. You have to buy a separate program for each year. They only sell the last 3 years. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on. Buy the download here

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
OK....so @80e1056dfd8f is going to have to clarify if he/she had already "e-filed " their proper 2022 data at some earlier date (and had it "Accepted").....before screwing up with the 2021 data.
