I submitted my returns 72hrs ago and they are still pending why?

TurboTax has no control over what happens with your return or refund once it is transmitted. Although the normal time frame for the IRS to accept or reject is about 48 hours, it can take longer than that depending on the volume of returns they have coming in at that time.
